At One Degree Organic, there’s only One Degree of separation between you and the folks who stand behind the purity of these cereals. Stan and Kathy Smith and their family developed a deep respect for nature growing up in rural British Columbia, Canada. They believe in simplicity, sustainability and integrity, working tirelessly every day to respect the Earth, be fair to farmers and harvest with integrity.
One Degree gives you the power to trace every ingredient back to the organic farm where it came from. You can see each harvest. Hear each family’s stories and dreams. And feel a connection with the company, the farm, the land and the soil.
These veganic farmers use smart growing techniques such as cover crops and alternating plant varieties to build nutrients in the soil. No pesticides, no herbicides, and no chance for contaminants to enter the food chain via the application of bio-solids or any other non-plant fertilizer. In other words, there is minimal incorporation or exploitation of animals. Plants and the nutrients they provide are the star. Veganic farming is a step beyond organic – a step toward greater purity, greater health benefits and a safer food supply.
One Degree cereals, made with sprouted brown rice, heirloom sprouted red fife, ancient maize, lentils, garbanzos and non-hybridized oats, are as pure as you can get, and they are now available through Azure. The whole grain sprouted oats, lentils and garbanzos are a great way to add protein to your diet in a form that your body can easily absorb. These pure veganic ingredients are the perfect substitute for products that rely on protein isolates or GMO soy to boost protein content.
And when it comes to sweetening, One Degree uses organic honey, coconut palm sugar or organic cacao. The organic raw honey in this cereal is from the Wolfe Honey Company in northern Alberta, Canada, where honeybees scout endless horizons of pristine clover fields and have plenty of pesticide-free flowers and fruits to pollinate.
Coconut palm sugar is a low-glycemic index organic sweetener from the island of Java and nearby Bali in Indonesia, where communities have harvested the blossoms and prepared the nectar for generations. Organic cacao from Bali is paradise rediscovered, a taste far beyond chocolate, and almost beyond words.
