Azure Market Organics Fine Cut & Sifted Turmeric Root is made of the dried rhizome (root) of this plant which is a relative of ginger and is native to Southeast Asia and India. Turmeric is commonly used in Asian and Middle Eastern cuisines. In cut and sifted form, it adds flavoring to curries, sauces, mustards, pickles, rice, potatoes, baked goods, and more. It has amazing healing benefits, too, especially when combined with black pepper. Try making warm golden milk with turmeric and honey, or add it to your morning coffee!
The unprocessed turmeric root consists of a central rhizome with numerous short “fingers” branching off from it. The outer layer color of the root is brown-yellow, but may be lighter or darker according to its variety. The inner color is a yellow or orange-yellow. The turmeric plant has long leaves which shoot up from the rhizome to a height of two to three feet.
