Plantains are a cousin of the banana and are often eaten as an alternative to potato chips as they are lower in sodium and higher in vitamins A, C and K. Most of all, plantain chips have two to three times more fiber than potato chips.
Plantains are similar to bananas in that they are a rich source of B-complex vitamins and potassium. They’re a staple of Caribbean cooking, but don’t get carried away: Just like potato chips, plantain chips have a substantial amount of fat, so always enjoy them in moderation.
