The Portobello also called Portabella is actually a mature Crimini mushroom.  Once the little brown Crimini grows up to be about 4" - 6" in diameter it is deemed to be a Portobello.

It is very important to keep mushrooms stored at a cool temperature- roughly 38-42 degrees, as their healthful compounds degrade quickly at higher temperatures.  For that reason, it is also beneficial to only cook or sauté for a few minutes before adding to a dish or eating.  Better yet, wash them, pat them dry with a clean towel, and eat!

These Portobella mushrooms were cultivated in Oregon in the upper Hood River Valley.  To grow and produce mushrooms of consistent and desirable quality, this farm focuses heavily on developing the health and integrity of the compost in which their mushrooms grow.

There are between 25 and 30 mushrooms in the 5 lb case and there are 4 to 6 mushrooms in the 1.5 lb package.

Current Origin: Oregon

Azure keeps its produce at a chilled temperature in order to maximum the freshness and shelf life of the product. In order for customers to enjoy Azure produce for more than a couple of days beyond delivery, it must be kept at a refrigerated temperature at all times until consumption. In addition, do not wash your produce until you are ready to enjoy it. The fruit bowls are lovely but produce will not last out on the counter top.

Note: We do our best to ship quality produce to Alaska and Hawaii, but due to unknown conditions at the barge lines, we cannot guarantee the quality on arrival.
