Traditionally for fall harvest, sow this heirloom late spring early summer. Juicy and flavorful, can be used fresh in salads, cooked in vegetable dishes, pickled, used in kim chee, or grated and mixed with ginger and soy sauce to make a dip. Also used as a tenacious cover crop. Usually harvested when 12 inches long. And 2-3 inches in diameter, though it will grow much larger! Tested negative for black rot and black leg. Sowing in early spring will stimulate them to bolt rather than store.
