Macadamias are some of the most sought-after nuts in the world. Here in the U.S., they conjure images of Hawaii, but they actually originated in Australia and are also known as the Queensland Nut.
These are premium grade, unsalted, Hawaiian Macadamia Kernels, with a firm and crunchy texture, creamy appearance and a delicate flavor typical of raw macadamia kernels with no foreign odors or rancidity.
As a natural, whole food, macadamia nuts contain antioxidants, vitamins and minerals with significant health-boosting potential. They contain high amounts of vitamin B1, and just one serving nets 58 percent of what you need in manganese and 23 percent of the recommended daily value of thiamin.
They have a high “fat” content, but it’s the good fat – HDL, not LDL – that your body needs to fight heart disease and lower your stroke risk. In fact, clinical trials and studies demonstrated that the fatty acid profile of macadamia nuts beneficially affect serum lipids/lipoproteins, resulting in a lowered risk of cardiovascular disease.
Other healthy nutrients in macadamia nuts include the amino acid l-arginine, selenium and magnesium. Macadamia nuts are high in fiber and calories while being low in carbohydrates.
But most of all, these nuts are excellent for baking. Try them in large chocolate chip cookies, or try them on salads and in stir-fry.
