Flashy Trout Back lettuce can also be known as Forellenschluss, which means "speckled like a trout".  The leaves of this old, Austrian heirloom romaine lettuce resembles the back of a trout, with its brilliant green coloration splashed with speckles of maroon.  it has a superior flavor and is crisp, yet tender.  It makes a colorful and flavorful addition to salads and is the perfect size for topping sandwiches and burgers.  The heads of this lettuce are gorgeous when picked!  Open pollinated.
