Yacon syrup is extracted from the root of a yacon plant, native to the Andes mountains. It’s free of refined sugars, and the carbs that it does have are prebiotic and healthful fructooligosaccharides. If you aren’t up on your scientific terms, this translates into yacon syrup having ⅓ the calories of sugar. Better still, fructans feed our friendly gut bacteria which can contribute to a healthy immune system and help you feel full longer. Yacon is also high in antioxidants and potassium. Our yacon-sweetened chocolate has only 3 ingredients: yacon (a vegetable), cacao paste, and cacao butter. Yippee for yacon!

 

These bitter sweet chocolate chips are made from 70% dark chocolate. Not only is dark chocolate (60% cocoa or higher) preferable for cooking and baking purposes because of the resulting consistency, but it also boasts a wide range of health benefits. Studies have shown that dark chocolate can contribute to healthy bones and even help with sleep. This is because of the substantial minerals offered, which includes iron, magnesium, zinc, copper, and phosphorus. Dark chocolate also contains large amounts of tryptophan, which is an amino acid that acts as a natural trigger for serotonin release.
