Azure Market Organics Cardamom Whole Seeds are an aromatic addition to both sweet and savory recipes. They have a strong, sweet, pungent flavor and come from plants related to ginger. Cardamom is an ingredient in chai, garam masala, Indian and Middle Eastern foods, and in Swedish baked goods. Cardamom is the third most expensive spice, after saffron and vanilla. 

Here on Azure Farm, Kimberly Stelzer makes German Pancakes (aka Dutch Baby Pancakes) extra special with a touch of cardamom. The Stelzer family actually calls these large sweet popovers “German Baby Pancakes”. Of course, there are many other ways to use this versatile Indian spice (like with chicken!), but this is a favorite at Azure.

Please note that Azure sells both Cardamom Seeds and Cardamom Pods. Each green cardamom pod contains multiple small, brown cardamom seeds. Pods and seeds contain the same flavor, but it is recommended to buy the pods if you wish to store this spice for longterm use. The flavor is diminished over time when the seeds are exposed to air.
