Valencia oranges are perfect for juicing.  They have thin, tight skins, a few seeds, and a rich juice, beautifully balanced between sweet and tart.  Valencias were introduced to the United States in 1870, and have primarily been cultivated in California, Florida and Texas.  

Everyone knows oranges are renowned for their Vitamin C content, which in its own right plays a significant role in the body.  Vitamin C is considered to be the primary antioxidant, neutralizing free radicals.   In addition to C, oranges are brimming with nearly 200 different phytonutrients which have anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anti-viral, and anti-blood clot characteristics.  It appears that the synergy of these compounds is what makes the orange such a powerhouse of a health-giving food.
